Places to Visit

The Lakes are famous for inspiring a number of poets, writers and artists over many generations, the most famous of which being Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth. As you might expect there are several attractions open to the public, including:

  • Beatrix Potter's house
  • Beatrix Potter gallery (includes some of her original artwork)
  • World of Beatrix Potter (Bowness)
  • Dove Cottage (Wordsworth's house at Grasmere)

In addition to the playgrounds at Ambleside (Rothay Park), Bowness,Brockhole, Coniston and Grasmere, here are some other things which will be of interest to the family:
